The Isle of Barra is considered by many to be the most beautiful little island in Britain. It’s tranquillity, distinctive Gaelic culture, language and fascinating history will make your visit to Barra a unique and memorable experience.
Barra really is a Scottish slice of Valhalla. Aside from its resemblance to a tropical paradise, the island experience is guaranteed to detox your mind and feed your soul.
Whether you arrive by sea or air, explore by foot or bike, overindulge in seafood or whisky (or both!), this island will leave you with many happy and enduring memories.
Come and enjoy the beauty of Barra for yourself!

The air raid shelter was on Tangusdale. There was a radio and possible radar station on Grean. In the village I was born my mother's best friend was a Land Army woman who then stopped on to keep farming. They swapped President and Secretary of the village WI as long as one of them lived. Her sister was in the WRENS based in Barra. Eileen Tompkins sister said it was the most beautiful place to be, so we went, 50 years later ....
Stunning photos. We tried to get down onto this beach ( parked up near the golf course) but alas couldn’t find a way.
